One of the questions we are asked most often by parents is, "What will my child actually do every day?"
The answer is simple: every day at BLISS is carefully designed to combine English learning, adventure, friendship and personal growth. Students are busy from morning until evening, but there's always time to relax, laugh and make memories that last long after the summer ends. Here's what a typical day at a BLISS Summer School looks like. A Positive Start The day begins with breakfast alongside friends from around the world. It's often the first opportunity to practise English naturally before classes even begin. Students then come together for the morning assembly, where the day's activities are introduced, achievements are celebrated and everyone starts the day with energy and enthusiasm. Learning That Doesn't Feel Like School Morning lessons focus on improving students' English in a fun, engaging environment. Rather than endless grammar exercises, our teachers use games, discussions, projects, role play and collaborative activities to build confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Every lesson is designed around communication, helping students use English naturally and confidently. Classes are small, ensuring every student receives individual attention and plenty of opportunities to participate. Lunch and Time with Friends After lessons, everyone enjoys lunch together. This is another important part of the experience, as students mix with different nationalities and continue practising their English in real-life situations. Many lifelong friendships begin over lunch. Afternoons Full of Adventure Depending on the programme and campus, students might enjoy:
Evenings to Remember As the sun begins to set, the campus comes alive with evening events. These could include:
Safe, Supportive and Supervised Parents naturally want to know that their children are safe. Throughout the day, our experienced residential staff provide continuous care and supervision. Students always know who to turn to if they need help, whether they have a practical question, feel homesick or simply need someone to talk to. Our pastoral team works hard behind the scenes to ensure every student feels welcomed, included and supported from the moment they arrive until the day they leave. Weekends: Discovering Scotland and Beyond Weekends are reserved for exciting excursions. Students explore some of the UK's most famous destinations, which may include historic castles, vibrant cities, beautiful coastlines, museums, shopping districts or adventure attractions. These trips allow students to experience British culture while continuing to use English in authentic situations. More Than Just English A BLISS summer school isn't simply about improving language skills. Students leave with:
Every Day is Different While each day follows a reassuring routine, no two days are ever the same. Every lesson, activity and excursion brings new experiences, new friendships and new opportunities to grow. At BLISS, we believe that the best learning happens when students are engaged, challenged and having fun. That's why every summer school day is carefully designed to be an adventure from breakfast until bedtime.
