Airport Supervisor

This position is non-residential.  It is a key position to the smooth running of the Summer School. Students will engage directly with the post-holder, so it is very important that you feel comfortable working with Summer School participants ranging in age from 8-18 years.

We are looking to fill this post with someone who is confident as a leader and has empathy with learners. The post-holder must have a full understanding of the requirements for Child Protection and Safeguarding (training will be provided), knowing and understanding the distance that staff and students must maintain is crucial to this role. There cannot be any social media contact or any behaviour that contravenes our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.

Key Tasks and requirements

This role is crucial and will need the post-holder to be flexible, a team player as well as patient and forward thinking. Key tasks include but are not exclusive to the following:

1. To ensure that there are sufficient staff to assist with arrivals and departures.
   
2. To liaise with the Business Support Manager to confirm the timings of coach transfers.
   
3. To be the main point of contact at the airport for staff, parents, coach and taxi drivers and to deal with any problems that may arise (e.g. lost luggage, flight delays)
   
4. To liaise with airline staff (e.g. at check-ins and UM Service) to resolve any issues.
   
5. To be a point of contact for Border Control at the airport.
   
6. To supervise BLISS staff at the airport, ensuring they are aware of their roles with regard to arrivals and departures.
   
7. To ensure that BLISS staff engage in ice-breaking activities (e.g. card games) with new arrivals and those waiting for flights.
   
8. To be responsible for continuously checking flight information screens, pre-empting any issues and directing staff to the appropriate arrivals halls and check-in desks.
   
9. To ensure that all departing students are assisted to check-in and accompanied to the Security Hall at the appropriate time.
   
10. To adhere to the Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and immediately report any concerns to the Safeguarding Lead.
    
11. Any additional duties, as required.
